          Abstract

          摘要

          we propose a new model to incorporate chain de-lamination and re-attachment processes in stretching filled rubber elastomers, which is then adapted to explain Mullins effect with partial recovery. The Mullins effect refers to the softening observed in pre-stretched filled rubber elastomers up to the maximum strain ever attained in the material’s history. In our model, Mullins softening is accounted for by allowing polymer chains to elongate upon stretching, and contract during relaxation, so the recovery effect is naturally included. At the heart of the model we promote the chain lengths, normally assumed to be constant, to variables that change with loading cycles. By fitting eight material parameters, namely the rubber and entanglement moduli, minimum chain length, de-lamination and re-attachment rate, two Log-Normal distribution parameters and an entanglement damage factor, we are able to achieve good agreement between numerical calculation results and experimental data at large stretches. It should be noted that this formalism is by no means restricted to explain Mullins effect and can be easily incorporated into more complex material models through, for example, network decomposition.
